So, I was reading Rozz's blog and she had this picture of her tattoo. It's lyrics from a pearl jam song, light years, and it reads:

your lights reflected now, reflected from a far
we were but stones, your light made us stars

It's on her inner arm biceps area btw, in case you're trying to figure out.

And it got me thinking, if and (seriously, BIG if) I do get inked, what will it be of and where? For obvious reasons (like conservertism and job prospects etc), it's preferable to be inked in a place such that the tatt can be concealed. And as for what the tattoo will be of, I always had a thing for swallows/sparrows. And there are so many brilliant (not to mention beautiful) tattoos of those birds so perhaps something like that. Either birds, or lyrics. And if it were to come down to lyrics, which lyrics? Of course I should have some special connection with the song, and it should have some meaning to it, otherwise you get inked for what!

So I set out to think of songs that I really connected with, and not many came up. Sure I like tons of songs, but to get something permanent on your body, the meaning has to last. And it shouldn't be because of someone. It should be for yourself.

The only thing that has come to my mind so far is my favourite line from pink floyd's wish you were here. You've probably heard/read this line plenty of times before if you've known me for a while. But here it is: we're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year. I remember back in sec 4, when we were all doodling on our skin with the uniball 0.38mm pens (cuz it's the only good pen to doodle on your skin with), I once wrote that line on my arm.
And I just scrolled through my itunes playlist. Perhaps the rolling stone's you can't always get what you want lyrics is in contention too. It's pretty meaningful. You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you might find you get what you need.

I also like Doug's thicker than water tatt. The story behind it was good. And I do think there should be some story behind every tatt. If you're gonna do a tattoo because of some person you're with, and someday, you find yourself out of that relationship, that tattoo's so gonna be a tramp stamp. As funny as it was made out to be in How I Met Your Mother, seriously, not cool man.

God, the way I'm talking about what to get makes it seem like I'm gonna get inked tmr or something. Rest assured, I'm not. I just think it's highly unlikely that I'm gonna get inked but if I do, those are my options. And don't get me wrong, I have nothing against people with tatts. If anything, I admire them for their willingness to commit, to know that there's something that they'll like to have on them for the rest of their lives. You've got to seriously know what you want to get inked, if not, regret will run high.

And for people who wonder what I do when I'm up to 4 plus in the morning, I do things like this. I read people's blogs, get inspired and write up my own version of what I think. And I watch plenty of shows. (AND RIGHT, GET THIS, MY FATHER'S GONNA CANCEL STARHUB TO GET MIO JUST FOR HIS F1. WAH LAO. I'M GONNA DIE OF BOREDOM IN THE AFTERNOONS NOW.)

On a lighter note, I had fun today with my parents, besides the shit (literally) event that you would have known about if you follow me on twitter! But for those of you who don't, here's what happened. My parents woke up up this morning (not too early though, I guess they know me too well) for lunch at Tiong Baru. So I chop choped to get ready and din't really have time to do my usual morning business. And then lunch turned into lunch+dessert+visiting my granduncle+going to the optician+going to courts and ikea+buying durian. Note to self: always shit before going out with parents.

Plus I haven't really talked to my dad in a long time so we talked about a little music today, which is always a pleasure. Up till this day, I'm really grateful for having him as a dad. Especially because he had pretty good taste in music. I must admit that he's probably the one who got me into music. He's always been listening to music as far back as I can remember. One of my childhood memories was him watching the eagles' hell freezes over LD in our living room. And he watched it on a regular basis. And of course, he used to make tapes for me and my brother! I remember mine had the marcarena song in it! And LEMON TREE! HAHA! And he bought me my first tape (SPICE GIRLS! HAHA!) and CD (I think it was Britney, as embarrassed as I am to admit this)! And back when I was in primary school and couldn't go out or didn't have the money to buy my own cds, I used to ask him to buy cds for me! And he bought quite a few! Like a couple of Britney's albums, Avril Lavigne and Linkin Park (YES, HE BOUGHT THAT CD FOR ME! COOL RIGHT!). And my dad once told me that his first cd was James Ingram! And I loved that cd (it's still downstairs) because it had Somewhere Out There! It was probably my favourite song as a child! And I used to belt out Celine Dion in the car too! HAHA! And I think it helped that my dad listens to Gold 90.5 in the car. If not, I'll be one of those people who only listens and knows the "new" music being played on 987fm. I like to think that my dad's one of the reasons why I appreciate the classics, like The Eagles, Queen, Creedance Clearwater Revival and more. I mean, how many of you can go up to your dad and say "OOOOH, CCR!" and your dad chuckles back? And I just realised this whole paragraph is so extremely apt because IT'S FATHERS' DAY! So, HAPPY FATHERS' DAY, DAD! I LOVE YOU! (:
(This was seriously not planned, which is why I'm finding it so cool!)

Okay, I think this is a really long entry to read and process so I shall stop here! Till next time!
