Two down, one to go!

Had my Tax Quiz on Monday night which I have to give my Tax tutor some credit for! The last question was pure genius: Carrie B Pte Ltd is a company that sells stilettos. A customer called Charlotte Tan wanted to buy 1000 shoes for a charity event. Good right? It made me crack but I was wondering, where was Miranda and Samantha?!

IT presentation today was, how should I put this? The slackest presentation ever. I didn't really prepare for it. I merely typed out my script, brought it up and read from it! The whole time my tutor was just looking at the slides so we weren't required to have any eye contact or anything! Awesome stuff.

Comms presentation is the last one left. Asked a classmate how the first 8 presentations went down and it seemed pretty manageable so I'm feeling a bit better. It's time to reclaim my Comms God status. Last one left, let's end the last week of school on a good note!

Apart from school stuff, Parlez Vous came today! I must say I'm a bit disappointed mainly because I played it up to be this amazing perfect smokey purple in my head and I simply created too much hype. The real thing looks nothing like the swatches online! It's not that it's not nice, it's just really different from what I had expected!

And Friday's a day closer! Can't wait to collect my babies from Estella, head down to Chanel and swatch Riva (LIKE FINALLY), Orange Fizz and Paradoxal. I have a feeling I am going to cave at Chanel. Again. And the catching up with S! Celebrating the end of a school term (omg, can't believe 3 months just flew past like that!) before I have to start studying for the exams!

Exams start next week! Holey moley! Then as soon as I know it, it'll be over and it'll be the holidays! It'll finally be my turn to hog up the train and be a noisy prat and run around the estate screaming in the evenings while you suckers do your homework because you start school in January! HAHA!

Also, I just made a startling discovery! My stalkerish ways came back despite my best efforts and I found out the eyecandy I cut relations with (on Saturday) is actually in the same accounting group as me! HOHO! Maybe I'll see him in my other classes next sem! :D I shall be on the lookout for him next semester whenever I step into the FAL!

Okay, stopping here because I have to go bathe and start preparing to rock my Comms presentation! Wish me luck!

my recent polish efforts ; 11:15 PM

I'm supposed to be studying for my Tax Quiz on Monday but I'm really not in the mood, especially after having a writing test this morning. So instead, I shall be showing you my recent polish efforts!

Say hello to my franken! I made it one night after studying for hours. I always had this purple polish which I only used once and when I did, my friend said my nails look like brinjals (eggplants) so you basically get the colour it was. This purple had a shimmer to it that reminded my of Chanel Paradoxal so on I went, and I mixed in a little grey to get this! (The grey I used was also frankened by myself last year so I can't really provide you with the exact details on how to get this shade! All I can say is add in the grey drop by drop until you're satisfied!)

This was the grey I used but uh, I mixed in a little purple from the above franken to make it a grey with a slight hint of purple. Best of all, the bottle shows this amazing duochrome effect which you can notice at the bottom!

And this is how the above two frankens look like on my nails! I used the same colour on my ring finger and pinkie btw. I'm a little bummed that the polishes don't really show off their duochrome effect when applied on the nails! But regardless, I'm in love with the two colours!

This was another crazy thing I did one night, again, while studying. I think you should get the hint that I get bored really easily while studying! I was inspired by Harry Potter! So tape, tape, tape and on with the yellow polish!

End result! It looked so rad, I swear!

And this was what I did in the evening just now! Was inspired by this article and decided to do my own ombre gradient mani! I do apologize for the mess around my cuticles. I'm a really messy painter and I tend not to remove the excess paint but just let them peel off naturally after I shower!

In case you're wondering, I used (from L-R) OPI Over the Taupe, Color Club High Society, Elianto Eggshell and a random white polish for the base colours! And a random black polish to do the brushstrokes!

Hope you guys enjoyed the post! Toodles!

I was in a pretty despressed state during the whole train ride and I think my iPod has proven it knows me best. It was constantly churning out song after song that helped improve my mood. Note that my iPod was on shuffle, these were the songs it played: Human (Jon McLaughlin), Dark Blue (Jack's Mannequin), Move Along (All American Rejects), Wash Away (Joe Purdy), Crazy (Seal), Always Where I Need to Be (The Kooks), Why Does It Always Rain On Me (Travis), Here Comes the Sun (The Beatles), Hopeless (Train), Knocking on Heaven's Door (Avril's cover version), Lost! (Coldplay), City of Blinding Lights (U2) and Naive (The Kooks).

I was really pondering what would happen if I jumped. Would people be sad? Would people even know? Will people remember me? And then Move Along played and in case you didn't know the story behind Move Along, Tyler Ritter wrote Move Along after his good friend commited suicide. The mysteries of life and the wonders of my iPod's shuffle.

When all you got to keep is strong
Move along, move along like I know you do
And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along just to make it through

angels and devils ; 10:35 PM

I know I should be stressed out but I just spent the entire day on Communications. Did up my slides, script and outline for Thursday, and I just read up on the dos and don'ts for tomorrow's (hopefully) persuasive writing test.

I planned out my schedule so I only start studying tax again tomorrow, after the quiz, but why is it that everyone is so kan chong and is stressing out? I know I should but I'm not. Maybe it should be the other way around. Maybe, I should be asking why is everyone so hardworking and I'm sitting here, relaxed as ever.

Don't worry, stress is going to bite my right in my ass tomorrow and Sunday. For now, I just need to concentrate on pulling mt Communications grade up. How did a Communications God fall from grace? Because in a classroom full of Gods, this God ain't that Godly anymore.

I'm starting to feel very inferior. Like I pale in comparison. Maybe it's time I get serious. It's time to buck up. It's time to charge.

; 1:04 AM

I was trying to make a Chanel Paradoxal dupe because I do not want to shell $35 on it and I was mixing a grey that I previously frankened with this shimmery eggplant purple from The Face Shop (PP409) and I ended up with this smokey purple with a duochrome sheen. It's definitely nothing close to Paradoxal but I'm so happy with my second franken! I wish I had more empty bottles to franken in!

One day, I will franken Chanel Jade. One day.

i just got lost ; 10:27 PM

I'm like the big fish in a little pond. I was good at what I did, at where I was. Then I was thrown into this massive ocean, where the fishes were all as big as me, some even bigger. And there are sharks, great white sharks, with teeth so sharp they could sever my head off in seconds.

So how do I step it up? How to I keep being good at my game? How do I survive?

; 9:58 PM

Got back Accounting quiz results today. I must say I'm fairly pleased. I'm not afraid to say I performed below average but I wasn't expecting much because I missed out the entire last part! So to my surprise, I actually did pretty decently! We also got back our Communications group report. We got an A! Every group got an A, although one group did get an A+ but that was because they had a master writer.

Feeling as stressed today as I have been feeling. The datelines are looming nearer and nearer! Thankfully, I managed to swap my communications final presentation day with Jian Wei and I got Thursday! Less stressful although that means I have a 6 hour break on Monday to study for the Tax quiz at 6.30pm! 6 hours of Tax can drive one nuts.

Random happening today: After finishing our food in the canteen, Sze Xia and I looked down to look for possible cute guys and I thought I spotted my eyecandy. There was no way to be certain though, because he was seated back facing me and all I could see was his back and the top of his head (I was seating on the second floor of the canteen). I really kept looking at him, wanted to find out if it really was my eyecandy. Bag, check. Hair, check. Watch, check. I was certain it was him. And then he turned around. I WAS RIGHT. Haha, I felt so stalkerish to be honest. Like how I used to be able to spot G from crazy distances back in JC! G was the ultimate passive stalking because we always crossed paths in school. Back to my eyecandy, I got a glimpse of his wallet today and I must say, I like it! It's a good leather wallet and I could even see what brand it was from the second floor. (I'm that pro a stalker okay!) And I really hope having a nice wallet isn't the same as having nice shoes. Oh, then we proceeded to the FAL to print our stuff and slack, and we saw him again! Of course, I saw him in class again afterwards! HAHA! Three times a charm today!

My bonito package came today. I must say, I'm rather disappointed. I guess I waited to long and all the hype faded away. Now, I'm waiting for my polishes!

Just saw Benedict Goh on the 9pm Chinese show! Haha, he still looks as cute as he was in his Pyramid Game days. I wish Mediacorp would give him more English roles on Chanel 5 instead.

Gotta do my IT project now :(

dreams of tomorrow ; 3:55 PM

My tax tutor just assigned us four new questions to do this morning, due tomorrow. All I can say is thank god I checked edventure in the morning. If I checked it at 1am, I would have not bothered to do the questions.

It's going to be the last 2 weeks of school. One hell period. I haven't even started on my comms final presentation preparation yet! I still have no idea what I'm going to present! And it's one week away (maybe, or 10 days away).

I still need to study tax because of the crazy tax quiz next monday. I haven't even covered half of the materials yet. I would have if I wasn't sprung with 4 new questions to do. That has pushed my schedule back a lot! Guess I'll have to study on the train rides this week. No more snooze time for me.

My dreams of tomorrow (okay, not of tomorrow but in a month's time)? Going back to watching shows and looking at polish swatches all day. Catching up with my friends - sleepover parties with several people. Guitar lessons with Dani (I hope I'll go through with this because I keep pushing learning the guitar to another time). Starbucks alone time maybe, just me, some music, and a good book. Those shall be my motivation for the next hell month!

another nail post ; 2:22 AM

Met Amelia for lunch on Friday to catch up as well as go bonkers at Watsons (which we did because we spent $124 there)! We both cracked at this new cosmetic booth at Tampines Mall! It's one floor below Popular and it's called Elianto. We both bought 2 polishes each because they were only $2.50 per bottle! Swatches of my 2 bottles later on!

I just wanted to add more value to my previous comparison post on You Don't Know Jacques vs Over the Taupe vs Particuliere. I read that Etude House had this one brown polish that was a supposed dupe for YDKJ and I was wearing all 3 taupes on my digits when I went there so, having no shame, I managed to swatch a nail with that Etude House Brown!

Top to bottom: Over the Taupe, You Don't Know Jacques, Etude House Brown, Particuliere

Top: You Don't Know Jacques, Bottom: Etude House Brown

Top: Particuliere, Bottom: Etude House Brown

Right off the ball, the Etude House Brown wasn't a complete dupe for any of the 3 taupes. It was close to YDKJ but still, it was visibly different. It was from the $5.90 range and the bottle ain't exactly big so I'd still rather get YDKJ. Comparign it with Particuliere, I think it was closer to Particuliere than Over the Taupe was!

My nails after 3 days of wear. Ironically, Particuliere experienced the most tip wear even though it costs the most. I wore 3 thin coats of each colour without any base or top coat, fyi.

Now, onto the 2 polishes I got! The one on my pinkie is called Turquoise and it doesn't appear as neon as it does on camera. I swear. It really is a true turquoise polish. My friend bought a bottle from Malaysia a couple months back and I loved the colour so much but could never get my hands on it. Until now! I love love love this turquoise shade!

Next, on my ring finger is a nude / greige shade aptly named Eggshell! It's to die for. It reminds me of some of the lighter swatches I've seen of Color Club's High Society! I needed 3 thin coats for this one to be opaque but it applied rather smoothly so I've got no major issues with it!

The colour on my index finger is from Skin Food. I have no idea what it's called but it was a pretty shade of nude. I swatched it on for a friend (S, this is you!) because she wanted the discontinued OPI Bare It In Trafalgar Square and this polish reminded me a little of it. But, it's from Skin Food. Hurhur. I only left it on for a day before removing it. I didn't want to get cancer!

This picture was in sunlight.

This was indoors and taken under my lamp! Eggshell's colour is more true to this picture!

And lastly, I got bored studying today so I took a little break (one of the many breaks I took today!) and finally swatched on OPI Barefoot in Barcelona to compare! I had only swatched the 3 on a piece of scotch tape previously so I hope the following picture will do the 3 polishes more justice!

L-R: Barefoot in Barcelona, Dulce de Leche, Tickle My France-y

As you can see, none of them are dupes, or are even similar to each other, and I'm so glad they turned out this way! Barefoot has got a little pinkish brown mauve going on, while Dulce has a peachy pink tone to it. Tickle on the other hand, has a light purple pink tinge. I like all three of them so if you can afford all 3 and like nudes, get them all!

you got me on my knees ; 1:53 AM

Now that I'm done with the polish post, I can rant.

Today was an unproductive day for me. Reached home and ate lunch at 3pm. I was eating while watching Gossip Girl so I only got cracking with schoolwork at 4.30pm. By the time 5.30pm approached, I was feeling sleepy and I napped, intending to wake up at 6.15pm but I only woke up at 7.30pm for dinner! And I watched TV after dinner till 10pm! Sigh. My total lack of motivation is seriously disappointing. So in the end, I only managed to provide my comments on the other group's AB214 group task and finish my accounting outline. So many things left to do but the knowledge that I have the weekend is making me lazy.

I'm meeting Brudder tmr to have lunch and go to Watsons! Wheeeee, can't wait! Haven't had time to sit down and catch up with her since our last lunch meeting in school months ago!

Alright, I'm going to sleep now because I'm beat and I shall try to wake up earlier tmr to get some work done before heading out for lunch! Bye now!

3 way comparison ; 1:01 AM

As promised, comparison shots of Chanel Particuliere, OPI You Don't Know Jacques and OPI Over the Taupe (L-R in the picture below)!

With flash

This is probably the most accurate depiction of the 3 colours! From L-R: Over the Taupe, You Don't Know Jacques and Particuliere.
Indoors

With flash, so you can see all them in all sorts of lighting!

The following 2 shots were taken in sunlight.

Now, a lot of people are saying Over the Taupe is a dupe for Particuliere. Here are some pictures for you to decide for yourself!

With flash

In sunlight, Over the Taupe on the left and Particuliere on the right.

My take: Though Over the Taupe (OTT) is somewhat similar to Particuliere. They are however, different enough to own both, if you are an ardent taupe lover like I am! To the untrained eye, the 2 colours would probably look similar and OTT may be able to pass off as a Particuliere dupe but to me, Particuliere appeared a little warmer, with more yellow undertones as compared to OTT, which somehow had a little hint of purple to it! As mentioned above, the third picture from the top is the most accurate shot I had, in terms of colour! Somehow though, Particuliere managed to look cooler than OTT did in the sunlight shots but really, it is warmer!

Moving on to Over the Taupe vs You Don't Know Jacques, Jacques is definitely darker and appears more grey to Over the Taupe's brown. By themselves, I would still say that both of them are clearly browns though. Again, different enough to own both and I do love them both!

A lot of other sites have compared Particuliere to Essie Mink Muffs but sadly, I don't have it to do a comparison. Nevertheless, I hope the above shots were sufficient for you, in comparing the 3 polishes!

I'm going to order Essie Hot Coco, Smokin Hot and Merino Cool soon, which all fall into the same taupe category so perhaps I do another comparison post again when I receive the polishes!

; 1:16 AM

Finished the AB214 group task and sent it in already, and I worked on the IT report today, so at least I got some work done. I still somehow feel like I'm lagging behind, like I should have done something more.

I did get a little bored and restless during today's activities so I painted my nails with OPI Over the Taupe, You Don't Know Jacques and Chanel Particuliere to give my take on whether the two OPIs are good enough dupes for the coveted Chanel! Plus I did up my pinkie to look like a chocolate chip cookie! Already took pictures but I think I'll only post them this weekend, so look out for the pictures!

Oh, and just a quick shout out to my most awesomest fetch gurlfriend, S! Thanks so much for the presents! I love how symbolic the pearl pendant is! And it's definitely going to last long enough! We can get our long awaited manicures soon (but after my exams)! Riva though, it cannot wait so long!

Oh, and can I add, I hate it so much that the secondary school kids are having their holidays now. I'm not really jealous that they don't have to study because my holiday will come in due time. It's the fact that they're disturbing my train rides that is irritating me. I got stepped on by this punk ass who was spotted with black skinny jeans that were so skinny on his thighs but were baggy at his butt. What kind of shit trousers is that? He was wearing white havaianas (that were clearly too big for him) and I really wanted to step on them as payback to dirty them. Plus he was carrying a turquoise windbreaker material haversack that no one above the age of 7 should be carrying. Did I mention his girlfriend was wearing a black polka dotted tube top that looked like some umbrella material and a short short denim skirt despite her thighs being almost as big as mine? And her footwear, omg, it was a kitten heeled thong slipper. God, she looked like a 15 year old aunty. SERIOUSLY. I looked better dressed than her in my NBS dry fit tee, cotton on shorts and new look gladiator sandals. Anytime.

Oh, and yesterday, I had to endure standing on the train from Pioneer to Tanah Merah. Plus I got stepped on FIVE freaking times. There was also this guy next to me who was pretty big sized and tall, who was carrying a backpack, and he kept tapping his feet violently to his music. As a result, his whole entire body was shaking non stop and his backpack kept rubbing against me. The train was really squeezy and he kept moving in some more, until I totally had no space and almost fell when the train stopped. Really dude?

Idiots should not be allowed on trains.

OOOOOH, and I want to head over to Watsons on Friday to make use of my 5X Watsons Card birthday promo! If you want anything, text me okay! (Of course you must pay me back when I pass you your stuff luhhh) HAHA! Trying to think of what to get to make up as much as possible so I can get more points! Thinking of buying Maybelline's new mineral compact foundation to play! I seriously don't need more foundation but I'm totally in love with the compact cover design! Plus, it's mineral, so it's technically good for my skin. Ooooh, and I saw the mineral liquid foundation advert in Cleo magazine! Sooooo eggcited it's finally here! I bought my bottle in Macau more than a year ago and have been rationing it but now that it has hit our shores, maybe I'll start wearing makeup to school! HAHA!

Time to sleep!

; 1:21 AM

Funny how when we were younger, our parents stressed us so hard to get that elusive A (85 marks, I still remember). As we grew older, the marks you needed to attain to get an A grew lower (75 marks in secondary school and possibly JC). Now, in uni, the A seems like something so impossible to get. At least for me.

When I told my mum about me not feeling confident about this semester's performance, she told me to do my best. That's all that matters. She also added that there was more to life than results, further citing my brother and how he studies less, is still doing reasonably okay and is enjoying life much more than me. Funny how my parents never had this "as long as you do your best" mentality back when I was younger. Maybe it was their way of pushing me and now that I'm older, they trust me more to be disciplined and to motivate myself?

I seriously hope to simply survive the next 5 weeks. I'm not asking for much. I know I won't be able to do much too. Disappointments have been aplenty this semester. Especially for that one module I am supposed to be acing but sadly am not. (How is it possible that I have 16 6's, 13 5's and one 4, and only get a B+?! In what whacked up universe does this happen? I should have add/dropped to Janice's class. Even if it means not meeting my eyecandy at all.)

I'm praying for some divine intervention. I need something to help pull up Tax and Accounting. IT doesn't seem to be answering my call either. Comms, my old friend, please help me will you?

; 10:21 PM

Song to best describe what I'm feeling? Queen's Under Pressue. Seriously, why is the last 3 weeks so packed with test after test after presentations after projects?

18th Nov: Submit group task for AB214
26th Nov: Submit IT Report part II and III
27th Nov: AB214 Test (Yes, on a Saturday #$^&%$)
29th Nov: AA203 Quiz (The whole freaking coursework worth of notes) and possible AB214 Individual Presentation
30th Nov: AC213 Group Presentation
2nd Dec: AB214 Individual Presentation (if it wasn't on 29th Nov)

NUS kids, you think you have it tough, having to study for your exams these few weeks? We have to rush so many crazy reports, study for quizes and prepare for presentations while you study and take your exams, and when you are finished with your exams, our hell begins all over again because it'll be our turn to study.

I have to keep reminding myself this: Just because something is difficult doesn't mean it's impossible. I've got to push through.

; 1:37 AM

Thom: You just haven't figured it out yet, have you.

Nick: What?

Thom: The big picture!

Nick: I guess not.

Thom: The Beatles.

Nick: What about them?

Thom: This. [grabs Nick's hand]

Thom: Look, other bands, they want to make it about sex or pain, but you know, The Beatles, they had it all figured out, okay? "I Want to Hold Your Hand." The first single. It's effing brilliant, right?... That's what everybody wants, Nicky. They don't want a twenty-four-hour hump sesh, they don't want to be married to you for a hundred years. They just want to hold your hand.

I stayed up watching Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist even though I have to wake up in 4 hours! Time to sleep! (:

A specific Beatles song is stuck in my head now. I'm too embarrassed to say which one it is! I didn't plan for it to get stuck in my head and I have no idea how it ever got it! I didn't even listen to the Beatles today. All I can say it, it's so so so so so apt to what's going on with me now.

Sadly, I need to banish this thing till after my exams. There's only 3 weeks left and it's a mad dash to the end. I'm not sure if I'm even gonna make it to the end. I may even breakdown on the way there. So many other important things I have to worry about than the Beatles song.

; 7:48 PM

Updated my mani! I was bored yesterday, or rather I didn't feel like doing work / studying so I painted my nails. I like the effect on my left hand better! I think the contrast between the lighter and darker shade is higher so they look better with the tips! Maybe it's also got to do with the fact that I had to use my left hand to paint the pink tips on my nails, which turned out less than perfect! My parents are pretty amused by this design! Obviously I'm not that pro to paint such straight lines, especially for the pink nails. I had a little help from my friend, called Scotch. Scotch tape that it! HAHA! Okay, the joke was so cold. I apologize! I'm thinking of creating a new blog just for my nail posts so I don't bore the people reading this blog who are not interested in my nails.

; 7:05 PM

I'm a lazy lover
Undercover
Wasting time
Then one day this summer
I changed my number
To cut my line

Good love is on the way
I been lonely but I know, I'll be ok
Good love is on the way

3 years broken hearted
But now her his ghost is finally gone
I'm done with broken people
This is me
I'm working on (cause I know)

Good love is on the way
I've been lonely but I know, I'll be ok
Good love is on the way

Good to go for wherever I'm needed
Bags are packed and I'm
Down by the door
You can take all the tricks up my sleeve
I don't need them anymore

Good love is on the way
I've been lonely, lonely, lonely, yeah
Good love is on the way
I've been lonely but I know I'll be ok
Good love is on the way
Oh, Good love is on the way, hey

I've got my 45 on so I can rock on ; 11:42 PM

This is going to be a photo-heavy nail polish post, so buckle up!

I took a picture of my nude polishes a few weeks ago! They all look pretty similar and I've added a few more polish to the nudes since then.

L-R: Essie Not Just A Pretty Face, OPI Dulce de Leche, OPI Tickle My France-y, The Face Shop BR805, Couleur Inc Patience 27, O2 Skin MK0106

Swatched some of them onto my nails cuz I was bored then. Thumb - Pinkie: The Face Shop BK805, OPI Tickle My France-y, OPI Dulche de Leche, Sally Hansen Sugar Babe, China Glaze Seashell

These are my nudes to taupes. My mum says they all look the same!
L-R: Tickle My France-y, Dulce de Leche, Barefoot in Barcelona, Over the Taupe and You Don't Know Jacques!

The polishes I ordered from Nailvibe came on Monday and it was like some sort of birthday present from the postman (even though I paid for it)! I was really excited to open the envelop and bubble wrap to see my new colours! And I wanted to swatch them on but my nails were painted so I went ahead to make a scotch tape swatch! The following colours are not what I just bought, I'd be crazy if I bought so many colours at once! I just selected these few to show the nice graduation / progression from my pinks to black and the colours were all soooooo pretty!
L-R: China Glaze IV, China Glaze Seashell, Essie Not Just A Pretty Face, OPI Tickle My France-y, OPI Dulce de Leche, OPI Barefoot in Barcelona, OPI Over the Taupe, Chanel Particuliere, OPI You Don't Know Jacques, China Glaze Ingrid, OPI My Private Jet and finally OPI Black Onyx.

My updated collection! I clearly need more trays! Probably get more when I drop by Japan Home! If I didn't count wrongly, I think there are 90 bottles now! And as you can see, I clearly patronise alot of brands, not just OPI, China Glaze and Essie! I love The Face Shop because they have such a wide range of colours to choose from and even though they may chip real fast, they're pretty cheap so I don't mind! I've got polishes from Mavala, Loreal, Sephora, Missha, Ettude House, Nature Republic and LA Girl to name a few!

I swatched some of my mum's polishes! She's pretty into a certain colour region and she sticks to that and buys shades of that colour. From what I can tell, she likes mauves and maroons but she's recently into taupes, after seeing my collection! I think the real person I got my polish craze from is my Grandma! She's coming to Singapore at the end of the month and if she sees my collection, she'll faint! HAHA! And I love it when she comes cuz she's so adventurous! She loves bright reds and pinks!

L-R: Revlon Raisin Rum (I think that's what it's called!), Mavala Ankara, OPI Miami Beet

In the sunlight, because they look so different in real life as compared to the pictures and I wanted to give a better representation of their colours in different lighting!

Moving on to my previous mani, China Glaze Ingrid! It looks real brown and shimmery in the bottle but the gold shimmer can hardly be seen in real life unless you're under strong sunlight! Indoors, from certain angles, it does appear a little olive too! It's such an intriguing colour!

After SIX days! I think it's the longest any of my self-done manis have lasted! As you can see, I suffered a small chip on my right thumb and on my left index finger! The rest just had tip wear. By day 4 I was secretly hoping the polish would chip so I could paint on a new colour!

This is my current mani! Did it this morning! Was feeling pretty low after checking out the Accounting Quiz results so I decided to go with fun and cherry colours this time round! Alternated blue on my left hand and pink on my right. The darker blue is BL606 and the lighter blue is BL602. Both from The Face Shop!

The brighter pink is from Ettude House and the lighter pink is China Glaze Seashell!

A random picture of my Tax notes from yesterday's GST lecture! Sze Xia drew my name on for me!

Okay, I've got to prepare my Tax outline now! School is really getting very busy and I feel soooooo stressed. Can't believe the NUS students just had their last day of school and I still have 3 more weeks to go!

I told my mum that I'm hoping to strike Toto (even though I don't buy it at all). She said if I strike $10 million, I still have to finish school but I can set up my own mani/pedi shop, my dream ice cream / bakery shop and I want to write music! Such wishful thinking!

I did my Accounting seminar outline, Taxation discussion and IT report today! Did I mention I woke up at 10.30am, watched Grey's, went down to KKH and spent a couple of hours there, ate KFC for dinner, came home and napped 1.5 hours and still managed to paint my nails? Uber productive day today! So proud of myself!

My HP guys are coming to collect my laptop tmr so I may not be blogging so often for the next few days. It all depends if I can wrestle the desktop from my mother! I hope no laptop means I'll study harder for my Accounting quiz this coming Tuesday!

Having dinner of Tuesday with the clique after IT lesson to apparently celebrate jd's and my birthday! We are going to Pizza Hut! Sadly I have to go back to school after dinner for the main comm meeting! Bleah.

My nails are finally of a uniform colour! They haven't been the same colour in about a month I think! I always have some funky combination of colours on my digits whenever I want to paint a new colour and can't decide, and the last few manicures were of alternate colours or had one/two fingers of some other complementary colour! Right now, my nails are painted in China Glaze Ingrid! It's a nice warm brown with a secret gold shimmer! It looks like chocolate! At least I hope it looks more like chocolate than poop! I'll take a picture another time cuz they're still wet now and I don't wanna ruin them! Still considering if I want to paint a top coat cuz I think the Poshe top coat is causing premature chipping! I had on Dulce de Leche and Tickle My France-y on one finger each without any top and base coats (gasp, the horror! HAHA!) and I think they lasted very well.

I'll probably read the dreadful Negotiation book while waiting for them to dry! So hardworking right? I'm almost done with the book, left with around 30 pages! Thank god it's open book cuz I don't think I can remember half of what I've read so far! I'll study Accounting tmr and reacquaint myself with NEJ. I hope one day I'll be able to call him Eng Juan. That'll be the day I know I'm successful! HAHA! (For your reference, NEJ refers to Ng Eng Juan, a legendary Accounting tutor in school who wrote my current Accounting textbook. He teaches a more advance course that I'll be taking in year 3)

My brother just texted me saying he's watching an Indian movie while eating muruku! HAHA! Probably his way of celebrating Deepavali!

Really very tired so it's going to be a short entry tonight. Woke up for school at 5.45am, had school till 12.30pm then went down to Bugis for the resume photo shoot. After that rushed to KK Hospital to visit someone. Reached home at 9 plus and went out for dinner and I only got home and bathed at 11.30pm!

Plenty of work to do this weekend, read the horrid Comm Negotiation book and prepare for the class assignment, study Accounting for tuesday's test, download MYOB for IT and play around with it, read Tax, go back down to KKH for more visits and family stuff!

Super duper tired and I need caffine. I think I saw a Starbucks at KKH! Hazelnut latte tmr morning! Brandon and I went out to stock up for war just now after dinner (i.e. buy plenty of food to last us through studying) and we're gonna receive our claims tmr! Managed to get Father to pay for it! I'm so awesome! HAHA!

Right, need to get cracking! I guess the only thing that's gonna make me laugh tonight is Chesty Love from today's Tax class! Super funny taxation case from the USA! BYE!

the predicament ; 11:56 PM

So many entries today. Hurhur.

Last night before I fell asleep, I lay awake in bed thinking. I thought of many things: the nails polishes I had (which I proceeded to mentally recall every single one), what I've been doing this semester (study-wise) and how I can change my current habits to improve the situation.

This is the situation: I'm feeling real stressed out. I have pimples to prove it. The content of my 4 core modules are pretty heavy this semester, compared to the previous ones. And here comes the paradox. I'm busy and I'm stressed but I only have 3 days of school. I have so much work to do and yet I can afford to watch so many shows. No doubt I get ALL my work done (on time, if not early, I might add). Yet I have this sneaking suspicion that I'm not putting in enough. This feeling often comes in a form of a mini heart attack especially during Tax classes when I feel like I had prepared inadequately for that lesson.

When I stayed in hall, the only form of indulgence I had was the Bridge sessions during dinner and the occasional ones when both my roommate and I were feeling really irritated with schoolwork that we had to take a break. I never watched any shows when I was in hall (Sunday night to Thursday). I only indulged myself during the weekends, especially after I knew for sure I had finished what was required of me. But now, I watch so much shows. Notice I used much instead of many? Perhaps the habit from the holidays stuck with me even though school reopened months ago. Hence, I often feel I'm not putting in enough because I have so much time on my hands to watch shows. Maybe my time management skills have improved? This seems really unlikely.

Furthermore, with the exponential increase in travelling time, and the fact that I have 2 seminars per week per module which means I need to do twice the amount of work now, I shouldn't have any free time on my hands! Not only am I able to watch shows during weekdays, I can also spend most of my Saturdays out with my family!

What does this mean? Do I have to cut down on watching shows? If so, what do I do with that extra time? I can't possibly study THAT much right?

What should I do?

dupe alert ; 7:17 PM

I fell from my high horse today. I always expected myself to do well. Especially for that particular module. So when I got back my paper and saw a B, my heart fell to the ground. B, tsk. I thought I would have done better. The way I crafted my answer, so well thought of, so subtle. Apparently it was too subtle. The marker couldn't get enough of it to give me a B+ at the very least.

So I was down, and I was hungry. Sze Xia was kind enough to go get some food with me at JP after school. We ate curry puffs and walked around! I engaged in some retail therapy, like my new black knuckle armour ring from Diva! $10 only! How could I resist? And we went into Nature Republic and what did I see? A China Glaze For Audrey dupe! It's so close I tell you, and I have pictures to prove it! It's $5.90 btw, not the $2.10 range, if not I'd have bought a bottle back!

Middle Finger: Nature Republic colour, Index: China Glaze For Audrey
Both are two coats on top of a solid black! I apologize for how haphazardly painted they are.
The one from Nature Republic is a bit thicker, bluer and more cloudy as compared to For Audrey. Hope that makes sense! To an untrained eye, the difference would probably be negligible! Please also ignore my discoloured and yellow naked nails. (S, this is how my naked nail look like.)

And then I saw this really cool top coat! It's glittery and it's so pretty! The glitter particles are so small and they're multi-coloured!! French tipped my black thumb nail! Hope you can see the glitter in the next pic! In case you can't, it's purple and blue and green! I was so stupid, thinking I needed certain colours with glitters in them when I already had a similar colour of the same base colour! I forgot I could just buy a glitter top coat and paint it on top! This one's really nice! $5.70 from Nature Republic too!

Oooh, and here's my ring combo from Saturday's lunch! I love how the nail colours and the rings are matchy matchy but they're still edgy enough! Bought both rings in school a few months ago!

Sorry if I'm boring you with too much nail stuff these days. It's just that they bring me great joy! Polish is my only vice. I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't do drugs. I paint my nails.

And btw, I don't think I need to do up an entry on how I do my nails right? You guys know the drill right? Base coat, colour, top coat! Easy peasy. Plus you can go read up on other blogs if you want to know!
Oh, one tip though, always always always start with clean nails. This means no moisturiser, nail supplements or nail essences and whathaveyous. The oils in those combined with the residue will cause the polish you paint on to adhere less to your nails! You should in fact put your nail supplements (it's like a polish form, I got mine for faceshop, $2.90 only!) after you take your polish off. That's when your nails are the most dehydrated (from the alcohol in the remover). But you can moisturise after your polish has dried! Keep your cuticles hydrated! But then again, if you're using matte polishes, absolutely no moisturisers. Don't even paint a base coat!

My Black Onyx nails chipped today. I was secretly hoping they would so I could paint a new colour! Thinking of a soft pink/nude! Probably go with either OPI Dulce de Leche or Tickle My France-y! Will post a picture of it when I do up my nails!
Moving on to something more exciting, someone fainted in the train today. In the cabin I was in! I heard she was carrying her toddler so when she blacked out, she dropped him! He's okay, I heard him crying but no damage done to him! And the surrounding people pressed the emergency brake button! And let me tell you, IT WORKS. The train was going pretty fast and it jerked real hard. My day was so dramatic!
